  1. Mom,
Can I suggest that the name of the person they married be included in the line with the date of the marriage? Especially in the earlier years when all the descendants names are not known, it’s not clear who married who.

  2. Hi Blanche My name is Ron Suggs. I am the Great Grandson of George Washington Anderson who was living near your John L Anderson in Welches area of Macon County North Carolina on the 1860 Census. Do you have any ideas of the relationship of these two men? John could be the older brother, father, or no close relationship at all! This George Washington Anderson (there are many) seems to have disappeared between 1860-1870. His wife Kiziah Anderson (Maney maiden name) was remarried in 1870. I was thinking that you might be able to add to this? Thank you.

    Warmest regards

    Ron

    • Thanks for the comment, Ron. Unfortunately, I do not know if the two men are related, but I suspect they are. I’ve never found anything definitive as to the siblings or parents of my John Anderson. If we could find a direct male descendant of each man and have them do a Y-dna test, that would show if George and John were related. I will review my notes and research file and let you know if I have anything that might help us go further. Again, thanks for contacting me. Blanche

      • Hi Blanche
Thank you for your quick response. Do we know if this John Anderson has a direct male descendant? I don’t think this George Washington Anderson has one? Thanks for your efforts.

        Warmest regards

        Ron

  3. Blanche,
It appears from your Ahnentafel and some of your blog entries that we are cousins of some degree–exactly what degree requires more math than I know. The Pleasant Valley and other Bartow County communities spawned several generations of my paternal ancestors. Specifically overlapping with your crew are : Miles and Sarah Crow, (My GGM was Martha Crow who married Joseph Reuben Edwards) , William Green Edwards (Joseph’s father), and Mary (Molly) Reagan Cook, sister of Albert Reagan who was son of John Derias Reagan. The Reagans have another Texas connection: I believe that John D. Reagan’s father, Jerry Reagan, was the brother of the father of John Henninger Reagan of Palestine, TX, (U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator from Texas, and Postmaster General (and briefly Secretary of War) of the Confederacy, and Railroad Czar in Texas.)
As you may know, William Green Edwards and my GGF, John Salvin Cook, both filed unsuccessful Miller Roll applications to the Guion Miller Commission in an attempt to claim a share of the $6 million settlement to the Eastern Cherokees authorized by Congress in 1906. These applications were based on kinship with the Carnes family. William Green Edwards’ mother was Agnes Carnes, and J.S. Cook’s mother was Louvica Carnes. These applications show a lot of information about the families.
Your fascinating post about the Crow family has filled in a few blanks in my mystery book.
I have a fairly detailed history of some of these families and I would like to compare notes.
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Thanks,
    Joe Cook

    • Hello, Joe – thank you so much for contacting me! I agree that it looks very likely that we can help each other. In researching my Green line I’ve found several of their Miller Roll applications (also unsuccessful). One cracked a brick wall and I’m trying to find evidence to support the assertions. I am particularly happy to see that you have the name of Albert H. Reagan’s father. I was never sure I had that right. I will contact you at your personal email address to discuss how we can share our research. Best regards, Blanche Wallace

  4. Hi. Do you know if any of your Wallaces have had a DNA test? There’s a James Wallace listed with dates similar to your James on the Wallace DNA page who is in Group 5, which is my group. The Rutherford County would make sense, because there’s another family from Group 5 out of Chester County, SC. My family was in Onslow County in 1765. I’m guessing they either separated from the others in Northern Ireland or up North. My family also went from North Carolina to Georgia after the Revolution, ending up in Burke County.

    • Hello, Jason – very nice to hear from another Wallace. My brother has done a 67 marker Y-dna test and our ancestor is James Wallace, born 1784, possibly in Rutherford County. He married there in 1808. I think you are probably looking at my brother’s test results. I haven’t been able to determine the father of James. I do know it was not Lt William Wallace of Rutherford County because I sponsored a dna test for a direct line descendant and that man is in a totally different haplogroup than my brother. I will be happy to help you if I can. Thanks for contacting me. Blanche
